Comprehensive scenario and variant guide for Catan
Stop the Conquerors! is the second sceanrio in the Legend of the Conquerors campaign.
The battle to resist the conquerors went well for the Catanians, though the Catanians would ultimately retreat and evacuate the population to the northeastern part of Catan. Soon afterwards, Thora is approached by Captain Wyler, an officer from another old world kingdom that had good relations with Catan. Wyler offers the Catanians arms in their struggle against the conquerors, in exchange for amber and grapes - two resources that are plentiful on Catan but considered rare in the old world. When asked why the old world kingdoms like Wyler’s home kingdom would not directly intervene militarily in their conflict, Wyler merely deflects the question, suggesting that his king cannot risk open warfare with the conquerors, yet cannot afford to see Catan conquered: Catan is conveniently located halfway between the old world and the new world, discovered by old world explorers some 20 years before the events of the campaign; this makes Catan a location of strategic importance ot the kingdoms of the old world.
After contemplating on the offer, Thora decides to tentatively accept it, provided that Wyler’s king is not asking for an excess of resources; her attention then switches to reports from spies under Dagur’s command that the conquerors are intent on targeting the settlements of northeastern Catan, where the Catanian population had recently been evacuated.
This scenario provides a sharp contrast to Resist! before it: whereas the conquerors of that scenario advance towards land from the water, in this scenario, the conquerors advance towards water from the land. Otherwise, this scenario acts as an extension of Resist!, taking all of its rules and adding additional mechanics.
