In the Traders & Barbarians scenario “Traders & Barbarians”, Commodity Tokens represent the goods that are transported by wagons between the Commodity Hexes.
Appearance
Each Commodity Token depicts one of the Commodity Hexes on one side, and a good to be transported on the other.
The Castle Hex supplies tools for the Quarry and sand for the Glassworks, and takes in Marble from the Quarry and Glass from the Glassworks.
The Glassworks Hex supplies tools for the Quarry and glass for the Castle, and takes in sand from either the Castle or Quarry.
The Quarry Hex supplies sand for the Glassworks and marble for the Castle, and takes in tools from either the Castle or Glassworks.
Gameplay
At the start of the game, the Commodity Tokens are sorted by hex and placed in separate supply piles.
Whenever a wagon is empty and passes through the center plaza intersection of a Commodity Hex, a token is drawn from the corresponding supply. This determines the destination the wagon will next travel.
If there are multiple Commodity Hexes that will take delivery of the good, then the wagon may travel to any of them.
Once a wagon arrives at the Commodity Hex associated with the good being transported, the wagon is emptied and reloaded with a new Commodity Token.
Each Commodity Token that has been delivered is worth one victory point.
