Die Siedler von Catan: Das Buch zum Spielen was a book released in 2000 as an appreciation to the fans for five years of the Catan base game. Contained within are a collection of scenarios and variants contributed by fans, and the parts needed to play each of them. Most of these scenarios and variants require Seafarers, and a few require Cities & Knights as well, though some scenarios and variants are not compatible with Cities & Knights.

The book also contains a number of basic strategies for Catan and the Catan Card Game (though the latter has largely been obsoleted by subsequent revisions, before the entire game has been obsoleted by The Rivals for Catan), as well as a small number of notes regarding the making of the game.

Although the product was never released in English, the German product was available for purchase with an English translation for the gameplay portions of the book.
